Trout
Deschutes River Guided Fly Fishing Camp Trips
Larimer Outfitters offers a unique guided camp trip experience on Oregon's
Deschutes River.  We guide the lower 23 miles of the river between Mack's Canyon
and Heritage Landing.  This remote stretch of river has no road access or
developments.  It's pure wilderness.   In order to access this remote canyon, we use
our 20' jet boats.

This is some of the finest blue ribbon trout fishing in the Northwest.  The resident
rainbow trout, also known as “redsides”, are 100% wild.  They average in length
from 12 to16 inches though many 17 to 18 inch exist.  With a little luck and skill, you
may have a shot at a big boy in the 20 inch range.

Pound for pound, these are the strongest trout you’ll ever hook.  Plus, Deschutes
trout like to look up!  They will often eat dry flies even without a lot of bugs on the
water.  Fortunately, the river consistently pumps out huge hatches of may flies,
stone flies, caddis flies, and midge in addition to many terrestrials.  When the
weather turns south or the fish just aren't active, dead drifting nymphs or swinging
soft hackles can be deadly.

Camp Trip Information
Our camp will be on a beautiful piece of trout water.  Despite the fact that we are in
the wilderness, our camp is very comfortable.  You'll be staying in a large, four
season tent with cots and sleeping pads.  A large dinning tent protects us from
the elements while cooking and dinning.  You will eat well during your stay.
Furthermore, we also provide a private solar shower.  Whenever possible, we try
to camp near one of the many clean outhouses.

The Lower Deschutes River is open year round for trout fishing.  While great
opportunities exist throughout the year, our favorite time for camp trips is late May
through June.

A Deschutes River camp trip is a great way to experience everything the
Deschutes has to offer.  You will become completely immersed in the river, the
trout, the wildlife, and the breathtaking desert canyon.  It's one of the most unique
trout fisheries in the world.
